Enjoy Summer Vacation!

Thank you for a wonderful end to my teaching career.   The farewell party at Mulberry Park and the end of the year gifts were chosen with great care.   I will always have fond memories of the families and the children I have met while at Grace.   My heart is filled with gratitude and peace.   Please pray for me as I start on the next adventure God has planned for me and I will continue to pray for all my students, both past and present, and their families.keep-calm-it-s-summer-vacation[1]

Reminders for June 20-21

Thursday, June 20th will be our annual GCS Family Day at Sandspit.   The ride bracelets this year will be $12 per person and allow for all rides except the go-karts; all parents are required to pay for their own bracelets.   When purchasing bracelets, let the cashier know you are with the GCS group.   Hours of operations are 9:30am-3:30pm.   This is a great opportunity for you to come and enjoy your children and the fellowship of other parents.   You are reminded that there is no supervision by GCS staff and each parent is responsible for either attending with their child(ren) or making arrangement for another parent to provide supervision.   RAIN DATE is Saturday, June 22nd.

-1284862[1]Friday, June 21 – Come join us as we officially end another year of school.   Students are to arrive at 9:00am in school attire.   We will be having a time of celebration, awards, and reminiscing about the school year, beginning at 9:30am.   Report cards will be handed out after the ceremony.   If you are unable to attend or want to leave early, please notify the office and your child’s report card will be mailed to you.   No report cards will be handed out until after the ceremony.

Also on Friday, in anticipation of our new desks arriving for the fall of 2013, we will be selling some of our old desks.   If your child would like a desk to study in at home, please bring $10 cash and be prepared to take the desk home with you on Friday.

Royal Baby Shower News

David%20Cameron%20will%20puff%20out%20his%20red%20cheeks%20for%20a%20royal%20baby-1512782[1]On Monday, June 17, our class will be having a baby shower.   We are celebrating the upcoming birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby.   Will and Kate’s baby is due some time in July.   We will be doing many royal activities on this day, including having a tea party in the afternoon.   Please send $3 by Wednesday, June 12 to help with the cost of the food.

I am also looking for a baby picture of each student.   Please email me a favorite baby picture of your child or send me a hard copy in an envelope and I will return it to you.   Submissions are due by Wednesday, June 12.

In keeping with our baby shower theme, we needed a gift for the future prince or princess.  It was decided that since this baby will have everything he/she will need, we are giving our gift to the Island Pregnancy Centre.   Students have been putting change in a baby bottle since Mother’s Day.   This money will be used by the Centre to buy needed items for less fortunate babies.   I am sure that Will and Kate would wholeheartedly approve of our choice.   A special guest will be accepting this money on behalf of the Centre on Monday afternoon.

Students are encouraged to dress up for this fun event.    Thanks for your continued support.

June 10-14 Schedule

On Wednesday afternoon, we will be having our last show and tell of the year.   Our theme this week is Summer Vacation Plans .   Each student is encouraged to draw a picture of one special thing he/she would like to do on vacation.   Every child will be asked the reason why he/she has chosen that thing.  Please make sure colored pictures are drawn and in the conversation pocket of the agendas on Tuesday night.

end of year fun[1]Of course the highlight of the week will be on Friday.   Friday, June 14 is our end of the year party.  As per tradition,  students will be spending the day at Mulberry Park in Sherwood.   At lunch time, students will be walking to my home to enjoy a barbeque.   If your child has food allergies/sensitivities, please have him/her bring their own lunch.  Everyone should bring their own extra snacks and water.
