It’s hard to believe how quickly the summer has gone by! In less than a week students will be back in the classroom. My name is Mrs. Jennie Barton. I am thankful that God has given me the opportunity to be a part of Grace Christian School this year as the grade one and two teacher. I am excited for this year and look forward to getting to know all of my students. God has given each child special gifts and abilities. I believe in seeking to understand how each child learns and guiding them as they learn to use their gifts and abilities to the glory of God.
In grade one and two this year, students will take part in hands on learning. Each Friday centers will be set up with Math and Phonics activities. These activities will be a hands on way of practicing the skills and concepts learned during that week. In Social Studies students will learn about Canada and the different symbols that represent Canada.
We are excited about our Library program this year! Every Wednesday students will have Mrs. Sue Huizing for a half hour library class. She has many activities planned and a theme each month to get the students excited about reading. September’s library theme will be “Blast off with Books”! Stay tuned for more information on upcoming events in our library.
Just a few reminders about back to school:
- The school supply lists can be found here on our school website.
- Every student must have a pair of sneakers for gym class.
- Please remember to send your child with a full change of clothes that can be left in their cubbies in case of an emergency.
This year’s school theme is “Be strong in the Lord” I look forward to seeing how God is going to use each one of my students. It will be joy to watch them grow as they learn everyday to “Be strong in the Lord.” One of my favourite verses is Isaiah 40:31 “They who wait on the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” I pray that I will be an example of what it means to be strong in the Lord and wait on Him as we go through this school year.
See you on September 5th!
