November 12th-15th

Well, another short week is upon us, but it will be a week full of fun and learning.  Thank you to all the Grandparents, and parents who came out on Thursday to our Remembrance day and Grandparents day services.  The students were so excited to be able to honor you and to show you around their classroom.

This week in Library your children will make a wish list of books they would LOVE to have. On Thursday and Friday there will be an Usborn book sale where you will be able to purchase books from your child’s wish list. They will be coming home with these lists Wednesday November 13th .  Remember, every dollar that you spend, helps Grace Christian School buy more Usborne Books for our Library!  Make sure you stop by the Usborne Book Sale tables during Parent / Teacher Interviews, these books make great Christmas presents!

This week every afternoon grade one and two will be practicing for the Christmas play.  A script of your child’s lines were sent home a couple of weeks ago with your child.  Please remind your child to bring their lines with them everyday this week so we can go over them in class.  Full group practices will start next week.

Because it is a short week grade one and two will not have a spelling test this week.  I will, however send the new lists home on Tuesday this week.  (List 6 for grade one and list 8 for grade two) The test for list 6 and 8 will be held Friday November 22nd. This will give your child lots of extra time to study their spelling list.

This week’s tests:

Grade one:

Thursday November 14th — Math Test #5

Grade Two:

Thursday November 14th — Math Test #5

 Important upcoming Events:

Parent Teacher Interviews:  Report cards will be sent home on Wednesday afternoon.  Parent teacher interviews will take place Thursday from 6pm – 9pm and Friday from 10am -12pm.  If you have not already signed up for parent teacher interviews, please do so in the office.  Miss. Fanning has a sign up sheet with times that are still available.  I would love to meet each one of you to talk to you about your child’s progress this year.  It is our hope to partner with you as parents to make you child’s school year a successful one.  Hope to see you all on Thursday or Friday.

GCS Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction:  The breakfast and silent auction will take place Saturday November 23rd at 8:00 am.  Please come out and support our school. All proceeds will go toward the grade 11 and 12 Jamaica Mission trip.

As we start a new quarter this week please continue to work with your child every night at home going over their homework.  It is especially essential to you child’s academic success that he or she be reading at least 15 minutes each night.

I am looking forward to the busy week ahead. I hope to see you all on Thursday or Friday.
