Merry Christmas

Hello Parents,

We had a fantastic last week of school for 2014.  Students in grade one and two visited three seniors homes where we were able to bless the residents with songs and a card to wish them Merry Christmas. The students did a great job singing and we were really proud of how well they talked with the residents at all three places.

We finished off today with a class party where we had lots of fun, games and treats.  Thank you all for the thoughtful gifts.  I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  I hope you have a wonderful time with family and friends.   See you on January 5th!

December 8th – 12th

Hello Parents,

I saw this song on a friend’s Facebook the other day.  Have a listen, it’s a good reminder of what Christmas is all about as we approach the busyness of the Christmas season.

This week’s tests:

Wednesday – Math Test

Thursday — Phonics Test

Friday — Spelling test — List # 8 for gr. 1,  List # 10 for gr. 2

Christmas Program:
We are just 1 week away from sharing our Christmas Musical- “The Light Before Christmas”. As students prepare to choose their Christmas attire for the performance, we once again would like to remind parents about the dress code request- RED, WHITE, BLACK, or SILVER chapel wear. This does exclude khakis for the boys, and girls are reminded to double check those skirt lengths! Students are also encouraged to take their sunglasses to their classroom teacher early next week. They will be labelled and kept in the classrooms until after Friday’s performances. The afternoon performance will begin at 1:30 pm, with a second performance commencing at 6:30 pm. Students are asked to return to their classrooms by 6:00 pm in order to line up and complete any final preparations. It is our prayer that you will be blessed by the sharing of the story of Jesus and the story of light!

ESL blog:

The ESL blog is up and running on the GCS home page, such a valuable informational resource! Just go to and look on the bottom of the main page.

Calling All Mom’s Who Need A Break- Grade 10 Service Project:

The Grade 10 would like to invite ALL Moms to a FREE afternoon of babysitting. Need time to Christmas shop, clean, bake or nap?Just drop off your kids at GCS on Tuesday, December 9th from 2 – 5 and let our Grade 10 students read, color and play with your kids. Need us to wrap presents…we can do that too. Plus, when you pick up your kids, a surprise takeout dinner awaits. Hope to see you at GCS – Tuesday, December 9th.

Christmas Service Projects:

At Grace Christian School it is our hope that students will recognize how God uses his children to bless others, and that it truly is better to give than to receive. What a better time than the holiday season to share the love of Jesus with others in our community? So, that is exactly what we plan to! Students from Grades 1-6 will be travelling to Beach Grove Nursing Home & Andrews of Stratford to deliver their Christmas Musical on Thursday, December 18th. More details will be sent home next week, in addition to a permission slip.

Grades one and two will also be going to Geneva Villa on Wednesday December 17th at 2:00pm.  We will be singing some songs and then talking with the residents.  Each student will make a Christmas card to give out to the seniors at the Villa.  We will need drivers for this event.  If you are available please let me know.  A permission slip will be sent out by the end of the week.

Enjoy your week!
