Summer reading program

Indigo PEI has partnered with GCS to create an exciting summer reading program for our school! Each student was sent home with a summer reading log last Wednesday (If you did not receive it please let me know and I can put another one in your child’s agenda).   Keep track of the books that your child is reading, as soon as school is over, on this reading log.  If your child brings the form back to the school library the first week of school we will see who read the most books over the summer.  There will be prizes awarded for the top readers.  Please make copies of the reading log if your child is an avid reader.

May 19th – 22nd

Hello Parents,

I hope you all enjoyed the lovely long weekend.  I had a great weekend with family and friends, and on Monday we had family at our house.  I love hosting my family.  It’s crazy busy but so nice to spend time with all of them.

Electronics day Friday May 22nd:

Students have been working toward an electronics day as a part of our class behavior system.  On Friday students earned their last letter to get a day where they can bring in their electronic devices.  This will take place this Friday, May 22nd.  We will spend the last hour of the day playing games on their devices. Please note that it is not a requirement to bring in an electronic device, so if you do not feel comfortable sending a device or do not have a device to send in with your child, that is okay.   I will have a couple of devices available for students to share if they do not have their own.

This week’s tests:

Friday — Spelling test –  List # 23 grade one, List # 26 grade two

End of year trips:

Grade one and two will be going on a tour of a fire department on Thursday, June 11th at the fire department near Brianna’s house. We will spend some time playing at Brianna’s house after the tour.

On Monday, June 15th grade one and two will have a park day.   We will be going to Brackley Commons park.  We will also be having a BBQ for lunch at the park so students will not need to bring a lunch that day.  I will be asking parents to bring in one item each for the BBQ.  A sign up sheet with the required items will be posted the beginning on June.

We will need drivers for both of these events.  Please let me know if you are available to drive.

Here are a few pictures of grade two exploring perimeter of the tiles and bricks around the school.
