March 29th-April 1st

Hello parents,

Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed your March Break. It was nice to have a break, but it is also great to get back into a routine. Students were certainly excited to share all of their stories of what they did over March Break.

Spring time is here, even though it certainly doesn’t look like it today.  In the coming weeks the playground  will likely be muddy with the melting snow. Please continue to send your children to school with boots and snow pants or splash pants as the weather warms.  A full set of extra clothes are also important to send with your child this time of year in the event your child gets wet on the playground.

This week’s Bible Verse

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.”
(Revelation 4:11)

March 14th – 17th — Winter Carnival Week

Hello Parents,

This week is the annual GCS Winter Carnival.  We will celebrate the final days of winter and the beginning of March Break with dress-up days and some fun activities.  Show your school spirit by participating every day!

Monday, March 14 is Pajama Day.  Wear your favorite comfy pajamas to school today.  Be prepared to Stop, Drop, and Nap!

Tuesday, March 15 is Disney Character Day.  Dress as your favorite Disney character; wear a costume or create your own.  If you don’t have a costume, wear a Disney themed shirt or hat to join in the fun.

Wednesday, March 16 is Beauty and the Geek Day. Dress up in fancy formal clothes or demonstrate your best version of “geek chic”.  The choice is yours.

Thursday, March 17  is Green Day for K- 2 skating in the afternoon for grades K-2.

Remember that during Winter Carnival Week, as always, the over-riding expectation for school dress is Modest, Clean, Neat, and Appropriate.

This week’s tests:

Tuesday – Grade two will have a phonics test

Thursday — Spelling test (Grade one list # 19, Grade two list # 22)

March 7th-11th

Hello Parents,

We are looking forward to another busy week ahead.

At the beginning  of the year each student was asked to bring a pack of baby wipes, which we use every day for students to wipe their hands at lunch time.  Our supply of baby wipes is getting low.  We will need a few more boxes to get us through to the end of the year.  If you are willing to supply another box of wipes, please send it in with your child.

Skating:

This Friday afternoon, students will once again head to Simmons Arena for an elementary skate. We will be taking this bus down to the rink again this week, but as always your as welcome to join us at the rink. What a blessing it has been for all the elementary teachers, to watch their students build community with one another and enjoy a little ice time together.

Our final skate for the year will take place Thursday March 17th. This will be for Kindergarten to grade 2. We will need drivers for this date as the bus will be used to transport the other students to Brookvale. If you are available to drive on Thursday March 17th please let me know through email at jbarton@gcspei.ca.
